I like how it went
from Matthew being sure of his feelings but unsure about Mary’s to Matthew being quite sure of Mary’s feelings (I think he needed to be told at first, but then figured it out) but confused about his own (love and guilt with Lavinia) and finally both of them being sure (and available) It’s all about timing, isn’t it.
